Destigmatizing Mental Health in the Black Community
This week we are discussing mental health in the Black community with Kiara Norwood, LMHCA,NCC,CCTP. We talk about ways to practice self care, recognize when you are not in a good place, and how to provide support for others having a tough time. In this episode we discuss how to find a therapist and ways to get free or discounted care. We also talk about ways in which we can destigmatize talking about our mental health problems and things we should avoid saying to aid in that effort.
Ms. Kiara Norwood, LMHCA, NCC, CCTP is a licensed mental health therapist in the state of Indiana. She is also a national certified counselor and certified clinical trauma professional. Ms. Norwood specializes in trauma, women’s issues, grief/loss, multicultural/racial identity concerns, and concerns pertaining to spirituality and religion. She currently has a private practice and participates in additional contractual work.
